Mister, your face…
#bucky barnes #ugh seeing this scene like this is the worst #he’s smiling when steve looks at him but you can see the moment steve looks away #and bucky knows everything is changing #he has to share his best friend #he has to be SAVED by his best friend #which is such a switch up #steve is no longer the little damsel in distress #he’s a super soldier and he’s getting the girls and he doesn’t need bucky anymore #in mcu’s set up #steve really does start out as the girl who has to wait for bucky to come back from war #and bucky isn’t pleased at first when it suddenly changes on him

“I never thought I’d die fighting side by side with an elf.”
“What about side by side with a friend?”
“Aye. I could do that.”

Little Buffy Things: Band Candy // Forever
After Joyce’s death and funeral, Giles is seen listening to Tales of Brave Ulysses, the same song he and Joyce were listening to when they were “teenagers” in Band Candy.
why don’t you just literally set me on fire as it would be less painful.
holy crap! I don’t think I ever noticed that. Oh my heart…
#I really love how Leia is so multifaceted and that they get she doesn’t have to be defined by her hardness OR her sweetness #how both aspects are treated as her strengths #The same woman who talks back to Vader and Tarkin without flinching #and coldly informs Han and Luke that from now on they’ll do as she says as she takes charge of her own rescue #also pushes aside her own pain over having just witnessed the loss of her planet and the death of everyone she loved #to focus on Luke’s pain even though he’s as good as a stranger #and she takes the time in the most hectic situation to drape a blanket over him and comfort him #Personally strangles Jabba to death #and then calms down the ewok with her warmth and kindness #Leia Organa appreciation life

You’re a spy, not a soldier.I love her in the final scene with the Chitauri so, so much. She’s the only one of them we see figuring out where their weak spots are, how their bodies operate, how they fly their flying things. She takes them out with their own weapons. We see the ferociousness on her face, the effort involved in every movement, and she just never stops. She’s probably my favorite female superhero that I’ve ever seen onscreen (not that there are a whole lot to choose from, dammit, but still).

Juila Sugarbaker Makes Good Speeches, Vol. 1
“But don’t try to tell me when or where I have to say or do or salute anything, because I am an American too, and that is what being an American is all about! And another thing, I am sick and tired of being made to feel that if I am not a member of a little family with 2.4 children who goes just to Jerry Fallwell’s church and puts their hands over their hearts every morning that I am unreligious, unpatriotic, and un-American! Because I’ve got news for you, Mr. Brickett. All liberals are not kooks, anymore than all conservatives are fascists! And the last time I checked, God was neither a Democrat nor a Republican! And just for your information, yes I am a liberal, but I am also a Christian. And I get down on my knees and pray everyday - on my own turf - on my own time. One of the things that I pray for, Mr. Brickett is that people with power will get good sense, and that people with good sense will get power… and that the rest of us will be blessed with the patience and the strength to survive the people like you in the meantime!” (X)
Now that Election 2012 shenanigans are in full effect and most things that come out of the mouths of the Republican establishment make me want to rip my own face off, I’ve been trolling YouTube for speeches by Designing Women’s Julia Sugarbaker to make myself feel better. This is the equivalent of FDR’s fireside chats, but with more pointed anger. This speech is almost 30 years old and it is still painfully relevant to our current state of poltiical discourse. I need more speeches like this in real life. I love that Dixie Carter was able to deliver these speeches when her political leanings were very conservative (libertarian) with such fire.
